Unit 8: Progress Penultimate Week

Progress Report

Today, I managed to essentially finish one of the songs I planned during my time off.

This one is called 'Five Days' and is a comedic take on how this year has been for me. It's definitely inspired by the likes of John Prine and Bob Dylan. I recorded the guitar and vocals, then put them into Logic. Then I added Logic Drummer in places I felt it was appropriate throughout the song.

You can see in the photo that I applied an EQ which cuts out the muddy low-end part of the vocal. I also added reverb to the different tracks.

I also recorded my cover of Don't Think Twice It's Alright (Bob Dylan). The original key was too low for me to sing, so I changed the key to C and recorded my own version.

I quantised these audio clips (as you can see) to make them more in-time, and then added reverb to each track. I found out how to do this with a tutorial:

I do want to add some guitar tomorrow so the composition isn't so plain. I do like how basic it as it really sets a somber tone, however, I think I can fill in a few of the spaces to make it more interesting.

Also, I was sick recording vocals for both of these songs so they aren't exactly excellent, but I can't just become not sick.
